SKMS Practice Details & Triathlon Training Tips 

See below for information on our SKMS practice details and training tips.  Use this guide to help each SKMS member properly prepare for the most enjoyable triathlon experience. 

SKMS Practices

Swim

SKMS Swim training dates, times, & locations will be posted to the SKMS team training calendar.

Bike

SKMS Bike training dates, times, & locations will be posted to the SKMS team training calendar.

​

Run

SKMS Run training dates, times, & locations will be posted to the SKMS team training calendar.

Race Information

Race directors may modify these distances slightly to fit their specific race course

  • 6-8 Youth – 25 to 100M Swim, 2K Bike, 1K Run

  • 9-10 Youth – 100M Swim, 3K Bike, 1K Run

  • 11-12 Youth – 200M Swim, 5 to 7K Bike, 2K Run

  • 13-15 Youth – 200 to 400M Swim, 8 to 10K Bike, 2 to 3K Run

  • 13-15 Youth Elite – 400M Swim, 10K Bike, 2.5K Run

  • 16-19 Junior – 400 to 750M Swim, 15 to 20K Bike, 5K Run

  • 16-19 Junior Elite – 750M Swim, 20K Bike, 5K Run

  • M = Meters

  • K = Kilometers

  • Race distances may vary based on the race directors discretion and the race.

Training Tips

Swim

SKMS Swim training will be with Coach Shannon. There will be an emphasis on developing Open Water Swim Skills. 

 

All SKMS team members will be required to have a swimsuit, swim cap, goggles, and personal swim buoy at all Open Water Swim Sessions.

Bike

SKMS team members will be required to have a bike in good operating condition and an approved bike helmet. 

​

Run

SKMS team members will be required to have basic running apparel and a good pair of running shoes.
